While on my hike I've not really been able to follow the news as I would like to (I try to stay informed on world events in my normal life).

Yesterday I went into a place that had a TV that was showing FOX news. They had a graphic on the bottom (just above the "scroll") that was up for at least an hour. It read:

"Iran is the origin of all evil"


The "reporter" was talking about how we need to "spread democracy".

It makes me want to go back into the woods.

... what, because that's where the Garden of Eden was supposed to be???

America does spread democracy….its right on the end of our bayonet. America the land of the free, as long as you are a white Christian. Why do the people in Iran hate the USA? It’s because we backed the Shah of Iran. The Shah of Iran who tortured and murdered as many or more of his fellow countrymen as Saddam Hussein, who we also backed until it became politically incorrect to back him. And why did we back these two? You know the answer….oil.

I do love my country; I just don’t trust the government.

I have this awful building rage in the pit of my stomach after reading your post Chai Guy. Same nasty feeling I had when I went to bed on the evening of Sept. 10th, 2001, after hearing that the US would *Not* be participating in Kyoto - How arrogant can we possibly be!?

Makes me want to puke!
